The Lemon Chiffon Punk Spikes are the only edible punk spikes I’ve ever seen in “the Village” and I used to practically live in Washington Square… That’s very NYC dude (I know – thanks). Besides being able to tell you where every street accessible couch in New York University was in the 1980′s, I’ve seen a lot of punk spiked hair. This cake brings me back to the days of punk but in cake form. Wow. This is the only post that goes beyond Ace of Cakes on this website. This cake is as good as it gets in the 20$ and under price range. The signature glazed fruit topping is as good to eat as it is to look at. And the lemon chiffon spikes are fun to break off and munch…. on your way to visit the place where CBGB’s used to be.

Wow !!! Centurycafe.com had over 100,000 Google impressions in a 30 day period recently.

We are getting 50 to 100 unique visitors a day on the site

We have almost 150 inbound links from other websites.

We ranked #1 for the phrase Manhattan Bakery for over 2 years until Google allowed a MADE FOR ADSENSE MFA site to go to #1 to make more money for Google. That MFA site has ZERO unique content… infact it has STOLEN CONTENT. Half of the page is GOOGLE ADS. Wow !! They have 1 inbound link. I have no explanation why our site is not #1 anymore.

Our site has over 1,000 images that I made with a Nikon D-60 and I color balanced and sliced every image by hand using Photoshop. Wow, the other site has ZERO images for viewers.

Our site has been up continuously since 2004. Their site is only 2 years old.

We did 14 GIGA BYTES in bandwidth this month. 14 GB!!! Thats a lot of people looking at a lot of images. It’s all in Google Analytics too. Why Google is letting a trash SPAM MFA site rank #1 for Manhattan Bakery is a mystery… but maybe it’s the example SEO Pundits have been looking for all these years. PROOF THAT GOOGLE FAVORS MFA SITES ON THE NATURAL SIDE.

Here is another twist on a famous Chinese Sponge Cake Roll – the Napoleon. The cake is of course spongy and moist but not too moist. Asians love sponge cake and the competition among the bakeries in Chinatown is keen to be the best. I see a lot of locals trying this for the variety. There are also some nuts in this particular one. If you are a sponge cake lover try this one and I’m sure you will be hapy with it. The item in the picture can be found in the second window case and it’s packaged to go. You can also normally buy a slice if you are eating in. Regards !!

This is done to perfection as Asian Bakeries are very competitive with their sponge cakes. There are 5 variations of the basic sponge cake roll available at the Century Cafe and Bakery in Manhattan but this is a favorite. Usually served with coffee. In fact, this would go great with a Bubble Coffee like our last post. There is a cream filling which is light and balanced to give the right amount of moisture without over powering the delicate flavors that come out from the sponge cake. This roll is sometimes called a Sponge Log and it’s sold in a plastic tray that keeps the cake fresh for 5 days or more.

These are simply the best anywhere. I have had them all over the world. Jersey City New Jersey, San Francisco California, Hong Kong, Saigon, Hanoi, Singapore, Thailand, and in at least a dozen places in NYC. The flavors of the meat mixture in the middle are truly to be savored. I let half just melt in my mouth. The bun not only looks perfect, it tastes perfect. These are lightly moist but not damp. For beginners look out before you bite into it, there is a paper wrapper on the bottom like we have on cupcakes. Just pull it off like it’s a cupcake and feast.
